Try looking for copyrighted works at the library.
Many great works are in the Public Domain and you can find thousands of works free at places like Project Gutenberg.
You won’t work for free… don’t ask your authors to do so.

instead of going to the library to get the book, most now allow you to download books. you need adobe to read them, though.
i kno queenslibrary.org and nypl.org has that. sorry if you don’t live in nyc. my sis also found that a colorado library also lets you download books. so you might want to try the library you have a card for… it should say digital media.
